Last year, on december 17th to be precize, I reported here on the worrying news that Influenza A(H10N8) was able to kills humans too. Which meant that another subtype of Influenza had managed to succesfully cross the species barrier. Well, you might argue, it was only one case and the patient was an already ill elderly woman.
But now a second case of Influenza A(H10N8) has been reported from China. But it appears that this time the patient was neither old nor previously ill. It was a 55 years old female. She was admitted to a hospital complaining of a sore throat, dizziness, fatigue and other symptoms. She's currently in a critical condition.
The report from Shanghai Daily is here.
